What is a P&C Association?
Parents and Citizens associations are recognised by an act of parliament as the representative's voice of the parents with children in public schools.
They are supported at a state level by the Federation of P&C's, and nationally by the Australian Council of State School organisations.
What do we do?
We, the P&C Committee, often get asked what the P&C is all about. So read on!
So what is a P&C?
A P&C stands for Parents and Citizens Association. Every school community should have one. Membership is open to everyone within the school community – parents, teachers, grandparents and citizens.
The P&C at our school is formed of parents who contribute to how things happen in the school, what events or activities are taking place, what children have access to, programs that teachers can implement and providing school resources.
Did you know..
Last year, the P&C have provided funds for children’s books, sports equipment, the outdoor playspace and garden, excursions, new library furniture, provided the uniform shop and meal deals. We organised the Athletics Carnival BBQ and cake stall, Easter and Mother's Day Raffles, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, Moonlight Cinema, and Ethics Classes. We also supported Education Week Open Day and organised ‘Bake for Books’ and the highly successful school disco!
Without the P&C these things would not happen.
Ways to help
We hear a lot of great suggestions for the school, and we warmly thank all those parent volunteers who help out on various activities. This all improves the school for our children.
We invite any parent or carer to attend a meeting to come and see what it’s about. Let us know if the time/day of the meeting doesn’t suit but you would like to be involved! We really value parents fundraising ideas and your ideas for spending money on our children at school. Some ways in which you can help: helping with meal deals, baking goodies for cake stalls, helping with events or activities, joining the exec team or training to be an ethics teacher.
